And once again: The Weather
Imagine sitting in your bath tub. The 107°F (42°C) warm water is surrounding you and it actually feels kind of hot. Now you decide to dive for a moment and as soon as your head ist below the surface you take a deep breath. Horrible, isn't it?
That's about how you feel when you decide to leave your air conditioned apartment behind and to hit the streets here in the big apple. Sure, it isn't that humid as in the bath tub, but almost. The heat is just very disturbing and it feels like you could cut the hot air with a machete.

Still we didn't top the temperature record that was set - I believe - in the fifties of the last century and which amounted to 105°F.
